Delta, Kohler, American Standard and the Alliance for Water Efficiency Win WaterSense Awards

Congratulations to PMI member companies Delta Faucet Company, Kohler Company, American Standard and to PMI ally Alliance for Water Efficiency for winning 2017 WaterSense awards!

The EPA program gave out 20 awards - seven for Sustained Excellence, five Partners of the Year, and eight Excellence Awards - to outstanding partners demonstrating their commitment to saving water by promoting WaterSense products.

American Standard won a Partner of the Year Award for being a key part of Beauty in Motion, a nationwide truck tour by its parent corporation, LIXIL. The tour showcased WaterSense showerheads, faucets, and ultra-high efficiency toilets to more than 6,000 professionals and consumers.

Sustained Excellence Awards went to:

  • Delta Faucet Company for donating WaterSense lavatory faucets and showerheads to local plumbers supporting clean water efforts in Flint, Mich., and for holding 35 e-learning courses for more than 8,500 employees, customers and sales representatives.
  • Kohler Company for a sustainability campaign targeting customers in states with droughts and for showcasing WaterSense products to more than 36,000 visitors during its mobile marketing campaign.

The Alliance for Water Efficiency was honored with an Excellence in Strategic Collaboration Award.

WaterSense® is excited to announce its 2017 award winners. This year, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency provided 20 awards—seven for Sustained Excellence, five Partners of the Year, and eight Excellence Awards—to outstanding partners who are demonstrating their commitment to saving water together by promoting WaterSense labeled products, homes, and programs. Congratulations to the following award winners and all of our nearly 2,000 partners, who have helped consumers and businesses save 2.1 trillion gallons of water over the past decade!

2017 Sustained Excellence Award Winners

  • Athens-Clarke County (Georgia) Public Utilities Department held 126 interactive water efficiency programs with 9,000 participants and helped replace 140 showerheads with WaterSense labeled models at a local hospital.
  • Cobb County (Georgia) Water System participated in every WaterSense campaign, including Sprinkler Spruce-Up 2016, when its “Inspect, Direct, Connect” program encouraged residents to find and fix irrigation system leaks.
  • Delta Faucet Company donated WaterSense labeled lavatory faucets and showerheads to local plumbers supporting clean water efforts in Flint, Michigan, and held 35 eLearning courses for more than 8,500 employees, customers, and sales representatives.
  • KB Home built 265 WaterSense labeled homes in 2016, a 5 percent increase from 2015, and its Cadanera community completed in West Covina, California, featured all WaterSense labeled homes.
  • Kohler Co.’s Sustainability Campaign targeted customers in states with droughts, and it showcased WaterSense labeled products to more than 36,000 visitors during its mobile marketing campaign.
  • Sonoma-Marin (California) Saving Water Partnership expanded irrigation professional training opportunities to community college students and worked with other partners on outdoor water efficiency education.
  • The Home Depot invested $3 million to promote WaterSense labeled products online, including on its Eco Options website, and offered more than $59 million in product markdowns on WaterSense labeled products.

2017 Partners of the Year

  • Promotional: Citrus County (Florida) Utilities issued rebates for 37 WaterSense labeled irrigation controllers in 2016, a nearly 50 percent increase from 2015, and hosted a Water Conservation Expo during Fix a Leak Week, where it distributed more than 200 WaterSense labeled products.
  • Promotional: City of Charlottesville (Virginia) partnered with weather.com to advertise ways to efficiently water lawns, depending on the weather, and sponsored an Imagine a Day Without Water art contest for first through eighth grade students, which received 445 entries and 530 online votes.
  • Promotional: Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District’s 55 member utilities promoted WaterSense labeled fixture replacements, commercial water audits, and WaterSense labeled home development, and created videos for Fix a Leak Week, Sprinkler Spruce-Up, and Shower Better.
  • Professional Certifying Organization: G3, Green Gardens Group sponsors WaterSense’s newest labeled professional certification program, Watershed Wise Landscape Professional, which trained more than 300 individuals on water efficiency and certified 83 irrigation professionals in 2016.
  • Manufacturer: American Standard was a key part of Beauty in Motion, a nationwide truck tour by its parent corporation LIXIL that showcased WaterSense labeled showerheads, faucets, and ultra-high efficiency toilets to more than 6,000 professionals and consumers.

  • City of Fort Worth (Texas) and Metropolitan Water District of Southern California for Excellence in Promoting WaterSense Labeled Products.
  • City of Durham (North Carolina) Water Management, Sonoma-Marin (California) Saving Water Partnership, and The Toro Company for Excellence in Education and Outreach.
  • Alliance for Water Efficiency, Niagara Conservation Corp., and The City of Plano (Texas) for Excellence in Strategic Collaboration.
