Radiator Steam Traps & Elements
The radiator steam trap is an essential part of your heating system. It regulates the flow of steam to the radiator in a two pipe heating system. If your home has radiator steam traps just one or two faulty traps can create havoc with your heating system and increase your fuel bill. Common issues are the trap not opening resulting in no heat or the trap stuck open resulting in the radiator continuously being hot. If you have no heat check the radiator trap and check the radiator itself to see if condensate water has built up blocking the steam from exiting to the trap. If you have a large building you should do the same. If you have a large building and you have many steam traps that are stuck open it will degrade the efficiency of your boiler as well as increase your fuel costs as the free flowing steam may hamper the boiler in reaching peak operating pressure to turn the cycle off when it should.
